Carrier Infinity Control - anything to cover sides from old horizontal thermostat?
I just had a new Carrier Infinity furnace installed last week with the Infinity control. Unfortunately, I had an old horizontal Honeywell thermostat installed previously so I now have 1" on each side to cover where it used to attach to the wall (there are colored wall anchors showing). Does anyone make a wall plate to put around the Infinity control that will cover the space? I found someone selling something like that for a different thermostat but not the Infinity. Clearly I cannot be the only one who's had this problem.

PS sorry for such a non-technical question :-).

Did they install it with the "beauty plate?" It's basically a plastic plate that sits behind the thermostat, and sticks out about an inch (I think) all around the stat. It comes with all infinity controllers, but I've noticed most installers don't use it. I personally think it looks better when it's used.

Thanks for the reply. There is a plate on the wall but it is maybe 1/8" wider than the control on each side. It is maybe 1/2" wider where the unit attaches to the wall (it's narrower in the back than in the front). I doubt there was anything else since I mentioned it to the installer and he said that he didn't know of anything to cover the area.

If the beauty plate that came with the stat isn't big enough, then a larger decorative plate can be ordered (P/N SYSTXXOLBP01). It measures 5.75" wide by 6" high.

Does that replace the existing plate or go around it? I.e., am I going to have to remove the thermostat to install it?

It replaces the other plate. To install the larger one all you have to do is remove the controller (it clips onto the back plate) then remove the screws holding the back plate to the wall. You can then remove the regular decorative plate and replace it with the larger decorative plate without removing the wires, providing the installer didn't leave a tiny amount of wire sticking out of the wall (like my helper sometimes does :furious:).
