carrier control board won't send 24 v to outside contactor

Carrier hk42fz009 keeps flashing...blower runs constantly ...replaced thermostat then board...same blinking issue...switched leads from transformer ...no help...push contactor in..unit runs...cannot figure out why I'm not getting 24 to coil..hv 24 goin to board ...but not out to coil...confused

JJboy 06-25-2012 02:58 PM

check the wires

bcarl2u 06-25-2012 03:49 PM

Checked checked and rechecked wiring from schematic on unit and new control board

JJboy 06-25-2012 04:19 PM

Can you explain better your problem??

blower runs constantly????
? Fan on or Fan off switch / Call for cooling

same blinking issue????? Which error code

I'm not getting 24 to coil
..... contactor low voltage at the condenser right?

Why did you change thermostat and board????

biggles 06-25-2012 04:34 PM

remove the stat off the subbase(shut the line power off out on the condenser) FAN OFF or ON? at the subbase jump R to Y then check contactor outside?should be pulled in.as you jump and un jump R/Y that contactor should bang in and out...get a pair of eyes out there to yell out whats happening.if nothing leave the stat off the wall jump the board at R/Y see what happens if it pulls in there is an open wire between the furnace and the stat.that constant fan remove G first on the subbase? then go down to the furnace board and remove G either shuld drop the fan out?lets here back...

The board doesn't send power to the outdoor unit. the thermostat does.

Do you have 24v coming back from the stat to call for condensor to come on?
If your furnace has a terminal board/junction block check for 24v between y and common.
If the low voltage wires are just spliced/dangling check for 24v between your yellow or blue depending on how its wired and the common side of the low voltage wiring. :)

bcarl2u 06-27-2012 02:13 PM

No voltage on board from Y to C when energized ...none nothing on any terminals when therm is off....have 27 goin to board ...blower runs...nothin else happens ...tried another. therm as well...light keeps flashing as if reversed polarity ...don't see it

No volt reading on board whether therm is calling or not

Board doesn't seem to receive anything from therm...tried two different thermostats

Runs on auto and on constant

same blinking issue????? Which error code

nondescript ..I believe reversed polarity

tried....unable to jump..r to y or anything....contactor only closes when
Pushed in manually

Did you try jumping the red and yellow wires at the thermostat. m ay be your thermostat wires are broken.
