Carrier 8000T Thermostat blank

Hi,
I'm not a HVAC pro (not even close), so hopefully I am posting on the right forum. I have a Carrier 8000T system which also has a built in humidifier. Earlier today and the first time in over a year, I changed the humidifier settings boosting them from 20% humidity to 40%. Early this evening, I noticed that the thermostat for the unit is blank and we have no heat in the house. The LED for the unit is on and is not blinking. I also found the 3 amp fuse for the unit, although I have no idea if it is blown. I'm thinking if the LED light is on, then the fuse can't be blown? Sorry I'm so clueless. Anyway, is it just a coincidence that the thermostat is blank and it's time for a new thermostat, or does anyone have any other ideas. I'll call a service man tomorrow morning, but right now, I'm not looking forward to having no heat for the night. Thanks for any pointers.

Best Regards,
Jeff

Most thermostats run on batteries. Yours may need changing. Trick is how to get the thing apart and change them. Post the brand name and model # or a pic of it if you have problems figuring it out.

Yuri,

Thanks. This one interestingly enough doesn't appear to have batteries, however, I'm thinking if I can bypass the thermostat based on the wiring, I can determine if the thermostat is the problem. The wires are easy to get to.

Jumper R to W at the thermostat to find out. Sometimes they go blank if you accidentally zap them with static electricity. Permanent damage occurs. Buy a GOOD quality Honeywell at HDepot if you need a new one and stay away from the no name or el cheapos. Half that junk from those offshore countries is just that. The higher end Honeywells are made offshore but to a higher standard. You get what you pay for price wise.

Yuri,

Thanks again. I've tried shorting the terminals without any success. It looks like I'll be making a service call in the morning. I really appreciate your suggestions.

Best Regards,
Jeff
