Carrier 58SX Main Blower Turns On Without Command

Thanks for the input. The blower fan just went on and never shut off.....the stat is set for air and it hit the temp setting (sigh..). I raised the air temp setting to 82. The fan did not turn on for a couple of hours before the air kicked on. Now that I think of it, the air was acting goofy back in June and my wife was accusing me of changing the stat settings. My wife likes to hold the temp and the stat seem to always go back to program settings uncommanded. It only did this a few times and that was it. Interesting huh? Thanks again for all your input. I will update hopefully soon with good results.

Carrier 58SX Main Blower Turns On Without Command

I have been working on the problem when I can. The problem is still occurring but I have eliminated the ICM 275 Fan Controller Board at this time (jumpered edge conn. pins 1-5 and 3-6 and problem went away). I am now in the Heat Mode and now witnessing a consistant problem that is probably related to the original problem (wish I would went to this earlier). I have attached my furnace documentation URL below. With Heat command from thermostate the Inducer motor (3A) comes on and stays on. No other events seem to happen. Outside pipes are clear and I cleaned all the condesation tubing. Per the Carrier documentation it says, "As the inducer motor (3A) come up to speed, flow-sensing swith (7V) energizes HOLD coil of gas valve (5F). Simultaneously, PICK Coil of gas valve (5F) and time-delay circuit of spark generator (6J) are energized through fusible link (11C)." I checked the HOLD signal (terminal 4) on the gas valve (5F) with an O-scope and seen no activation. I disconnected the brown wire to flow-sensing switch (7V) that goes to the HOLD signal and witnessed an appox. 5Vac 60 hz signal. I remember about 15 years ago I replace the Pilot Flame Sending Switch which had the same symptoms. At that time I did not have a O-scope and would not be suspect of other sensors. Anybody have any Ideas. thanks

If you have 24v to the spark box and you get no spark at the ignitor electrode, you will need to replace the spark box. I have seen water short these boards where line voltage will take out the low voltage components. I hope this hasn't happened because it gets expensive quick.

I am getting no 24 vac at the T3 on the spark box. Does it look like it could be the Fusible Link or the Flow Sending Switch?? I ohm the connector to the Ignitor inline with the Fusible Link and it seem to check OK. Pin 3 contact was closed and Pin 2 was open referenced to Pin1 (Fusible Link wire). Because the Inducer Motor runs constant, the Inducer-motor Relay Coil (2D) must be ok. I am leaning toward the Flow Sending Switch?? ???? thanks for any input

i am still testing in heat mode. Heat is turned on R and W look good at the control board, the inducer motor comes on, but not spark at the ignitor. Inducer runs constantly. Checked voltage at the pressure switch. Switch NO contact has 24V (orange and yellow wire) and the NC contact (brown wire) never see 24V. I have cleaned all the condesation tubing and even the trap (reprimed it). My question now is how do you really test the pressure switch to see if it is bad. My concern is if I jumper it I am messing with the gas valve. I have attached my Carrier Service Manual that will have the schematic. Appreciate any input. thanks NOTE:the schematic file is to big....i am trying to figure out how to attach.
