Is it an LP system.
Are the PVC pipes clear of snow and ice outside.

Post pic of the PVC pipes at the furnace. And tell which one you are calling the intake and exhaust.

Checked the pipes outside and they seem clear. There is a small tap off the PVC prior to entering the furnace and when i unscrewed the plug leaves came out. Maybe ive got a nest or partial blockage???

no clogs in either PVC pipe. there seems to be about half the suction and half the draft pressure pressure vs my other 58SX when feeling the pipes outside.

Ok, so you took the pipe out of that rubber boot, and checked it for obstructions.

Is this a LP system.

Could have a dirty/restricting secondary heat exchanger.

Probably a cracked heat exchanger/overfired/plugged heat exchanger and getting flame rollout in the burner box. If the intake pipe is hot there then the burner box is overheating. Had the same thing with a cracked Keeprite. Get a Pro to check it as that can be VERY unsafe!!

Sounds like the secondary heat exchanger is plugged. To see if it is really hooped, pull out the blower and inspect the secondary heat exchanger. If you see brown gunk all over it, or water running down the back of the furnace, it's toast. Replacement is covered under warranty.

Nope. Thats the bite about HX warranties.

But if your service tech is on the ball.

He'll talk you out of replacing the heat exchanger. And into taking the credit on the heat exchanger. And having a new tax credit qualifying furnace installed instead.

Carrier pays 4 hours labor to do this under warranty.

As far as I know, the lifetime warranty on secondary heat exchangers includes 4 hours labor. Although, Ill have to see if this is only for the ones affected by the class action suit, or if it for all of them. Either way, I'd act fast because it appears that Carrier is catching on that many failures are due to improper commissioning, or rather lack of commissioning.

Carrier 58SX

Thanks to all the advice . The heat exchanger had corroded and plugged up the system. Thats the bad part...The good part... Carrier covered the exchanger and labor. I only had to pay shipping. All together 100 Bucks! I would not have known to ask this if not for the you guys ...Thanks!
