Carrier 58RAV075 series 100

Hey everybody I have a very strange question. I have a Carrier horizontal natural gas furnace that has trouble starting when cold. The Carrier is a 58RAV075---101JC and it is a series 100. I have come to figure out that if I use a hair dryer and warm up the circuit board it will start up. So I kind of have it narrowed down to replacing the circuit board, but I really want to know why my hair dryer procedure works?
Thanks!

That furnace has had lots of board failures due to poor solder joints on the back. Very creative DIY you are. You may be expanding the board and barely closing the connection. Need a new board.

thanks for the response yuri. I have read in a couple of other threads that those circuit boards are faulty. I was talking to my neighbor last night and he said about 6 years ago his board started smoking. I found a company on the web that sells them for like $180 shipped. It looks like that circuit board is used on a lot of other models.

Well changed the circuit board today and now it works like a charm! It was very strange that this thing would only work if I warmed it up with a hair dryer. Thanks for the help!
