Carrier 58RAV DownFlow

I have a Carrier 58RAV Down Flow furnace. It runs fine for about 3 minets and then the flame goes out, however the fan keeps running. Then after a few minets the gas comes back on. It's running all the time but can't get the house temp up.

When the gas stops there is an LED code 13 for 1 time then it goes to a 33. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!!

The unit is cutting out on the high temp limit control from a lack of airflow. Clean your filter and make sure all your vents/dampers are open. It also should have an annual maintenance check done. The flame sensor which sits in front of the left burner should be cleaned with fine emory paper or steel wool. Looks like this:

Thanks for the reply yuri,, that was quick. All filters are new and vents are open. Could there be something else?

Your fan motor is slowing down and or the fan is dirty. Or the A/C coil if you have one is dirty. Could be that the motor capacitor is dying and slowing down the motor and or it is seizing up. Try replacing the capacitor, about $10 at Graingers. rated in mfd on the capacitor. Don't touch the live terminals or it will zolt you.

Thanks again yuri. I will clean the flame sensor. I will replace the fan motor capacitor. That would be the big one correct?,,, on the large fan? about the A/C coil where and what is this?

Follow the freon lines from the outdoor unit to the coil. Your furnace is a reverse flow so it may be under the furnace. The capacitor is on the fan housing and should be a 5 to 10 mfd/370 vac I believe. Change the cap first.

Replaced cap and tried to clean A/C coil. What's the best way to clean? Cleand fan, still have the same problem. When I take the door off for the A/C Coil the gas will stay on. Could the fan motor be crapping out or could it be something else?

Probably the motor crapping out. Having a hard time sucking air with the door closed so it has lost some horsepower and speed. If you can get at the coil and it is dirty then a soft brush and vacuum or if worse then you need a spray coil cleaner and weed sprayer to spray water at it to flush and rinse it or hire a Pro.

I have the same unit and I've cleaned flame sensor and replaced the control board. Furnace still comes on and goes out. Error codes 34 & 14. Please help.

Code 13 & 33 are limit codes .Main limit may be tripping prematurely
Code 14 & 34 are ignition problems.clean flame sensor and wash out burners.Crossovers get dirty and wont carry flame over properly. Also watch flame when it lights.Sometimes flames will blow out due to backwash of air off inducer cooling fan. They make a shield that attaches to id motor, usually has two screw holes already drilled.

The flame sensor and burners have been cleaned...the flames come on and stay on solid blue for about 3 seconds...can it be a bad flame sensor?
