Carrier 58pav070-12 error code 34

I get the code only every so often and under several circumstances. It will come on if the furnace runs too long, such as if I come home from work and increase thermostat more than 3 or 4 degrees. It will also come on if the furnace is running for a little while and I increase the temp, even if its just a degree or two.

Inducer motor starts, igniter comes on, flame starts and stays on for a couple seconds, then I get the error code 34. I have cleaned the flame sensor often with steel wool.

Could I have an issue with the gas valve or the circuit board. Because it will run smoothly for weeks as long as nothing is done as I stated above, I have to think the board might be bad.

Any suggestions would be appreciated and thanks in advance.

Could be a bad board or sticking gas valve or a number of other problems. Tech would have to be there to see it. I sometimes cycle start/stop them 20-30X in a row to try and catch an intermittent problem ( those are the WORST).

Thanks for the response Yuri. Knowing that it is only an intermittent problem leads me to believe it's the board.

Has anyone seen this issue before?

Read all about it:Bryant 383KAV048111 starts up intermittently

Cousin of your furnace, common for those boards to fail/wear out or develop problems. Happens to all brands and boards eventually.
