Carrier 58PAV code 22 (abnormal flame prove signal)

I put in new board last year and that solved the old problem of bad solder joint (intermittent shut down). But shortly thereafter and intermittently now i keep getting error code 22. One night i wake up and it is only 50 inside and flashing code 22. I am running the 3M pleated filter and i had been closing some upper vents to heat the garage better. But i open all the vents and i still get error. The filter is not real dirty, but i will remove it and see if i still get error. Could it be my thermostat on the upstairs wall (about 10 yrs old manual)? If i adjust the thermostat the furnace kicks on and runs...but latter when i look at it i see flash code 22. I am paranoid of leaving house vacant this weekend to help my mom with ice storm damage and would like to fix this problem...any ideas, tests. i will remove filter and try, but otherwise i am leaning toward replacing the wall thermostat.

Thanks.

You may want to read the postings about filters about 3/4 ways down this 1st page started by baby12121 -- most of the HVAC guys are not that in favor of some 3 M filters; good luck

Carrier 58PAV code 22 (abnormal flame prove signal)

I removed the 3M filter...but still have problem intermittently, the problem is code 22 abnormal flame proving signal. Furnace seems to operate properly, but i have the flashing code 22 ????? A troubleshooting guide i found says it could be: stuck open solenoid gas valve or leak gas valve; defective control board. I have a sensitive nose and this is propane furnace. I stick my head into gas valve and sniff, but i not smell gas...maybe a very slight scent (residual from just shut off ??). The flame would have to be still hot when the gas valve is denergized in order to set code 22...or the sensor would have to say it is hot. I just wonder if maybe the control board is a little to quick to say flame still exists and that my valve is a little slow closing. I heard upstairs thermostatic click off and i run downstairs while the fan is still running and tried to see if I could find any flame and i Not find any.
