Carrier 58MXA Series 170 trouble with temperature

Carrier Model 58MXA 100-16 Series 170 is not maintaining temperature via the heat pump. If I switch to emergency heat the propane gas kicks in. It is not cold here - about 45 degrees. I had the heat set on 70 and the temperature in the house was 66. You can hear the fan running but it is not heating properly in the heat pump mode. Any ideas?

Could be a lot of things not making the heat pump run. Need to check the breaker first. Then set the thermostat back to heat and 1 degree below the room temp. Then go outside and see if the compressor and condensor fan motor are running.

If you just checked or replaced it yesterday.

then you need to check to see if the heat pump is running the whole time the thermostat is calling for heat. But net reaching set temp(guessing that it could reach set temp at same conditions earlier, like last year).

If it is. Then you need the unit checked. Could be a charge problem.
