Carrier 58MVC low static pressure alarm

I had a carrier 58mvc installed with an infinity control. The controller was alarming out for low static pressure. The installer decided to put a sheet metal constraint after the blower to up the static pressure in order to defeat the alarm. The claim was that our duct work was too big to make the controller work properly, thus the low static pressure. Question: Is this standard? Seems like a band-aid which could be detrimental to performance. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The blower should be restricted on its intake side, not discharge side.

What static pressure is it sensing. Has to be very very low to get that alarm.

Less then .1" I think.

If you have a cheap see through fiberglass air filter. A pleated air filter would have worked better then installing a baffle.
