Carrier 58 ga100-2 control board. Is it replaceable? Please help

Hi, I have a very old carrier 58ga100-2a furnace. I was wondering if you can still buy the control board for this? I had a service tech today tell me it would be 1500.00 for a new one which seems crazy as I cold almost buy a new furnace for that. The tech was also trying to sell me a new one but I know nothing about this. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

That is a very expensive control from Carrier, even though it is not much more than a fan center. Is your furnace from the early 70's?

Carrier 58 ga100-2 control board. Is it replaceable? Please help

Hi thanks for the replys. I have only lived in the house for 4 years but in my home inspection it was estimated early 70s. Initially the blower motor would not come on(which i replaced last year) the tech said they bypassed the board and the motor was working fine which led him to the board. I know its really old and needs replaced but financially i would just like to fix it but want to make sure they are being honest about the cost of the board. I have looked online to find one but have had no luck. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

When I saw how much this board costs, I bought a soldering iron and repaired the old one.

Hands down, buy a new furnace. Even if the board is $10, buy a new furnace.

I think an electronic repair shop will be able to replace the relay.

Excellent choice, man. You never know with those old units how long something has not been right yet it kept going. It was definitely in your absolute best health and financial interests to go new, believe you me. You can't smell carbon monixide, odorless, colorless and tasteless. You simply one morning just don't wake up, ever. That happens from cracked heat exchangers.

That was my main concern for you and your family.

Anyhow, what did you end up getting?
