Flex gas line getting hot enough to melt plastic coating,where would this short start from?

Were is it getting hot at? Is it near gas valve?

It's getting hot on the flex line & that abount 18 inches from the gas valve! I hope you can give me some direction!

Pretty bizzare! Can you not feel along that line for where it's hottest to get a sense for the source of the heat?
If it's not hot now during the furnace cycle, is this a previously caused damage by something like a trouble light bulb pressing directly against the plastic covering?

That is so bizzard about that we could not find a hot spot,only the flex line was hot and stay hot for a few minutes.The system ran after we disconnect the hose.
