Carrier 48SDN Control board problem

Hi,

I just replaced a dead controller board and the inducer motor won't start. I tracked it down to the Combustion relay (CR) on the control board which is in series with the inducer motor. This is a NO relay which should be closed by the processor when the stat calls for heat and then opened after the burner lights.

Suggestions, comments?

Thanks

Carrier 48SDN Control board problem

Have you tried to put power directly to the inducer motor to see if it is functional? Check voltage first, but my carrier's inducer is 120 volts AC. Make sure the motor is good before you go any further.

Also, did you set up the board just like the old one, and is it an exact match?

Carrier 48SDN Control board problem

I have jumpered the relay; the motor turns and the furnace fires up.

The boards are almost exactly identical; the original is xxxx-116A and the new one is xxxx-117A. I could see no other difference. I hooked up all the wires, connectors and fuse from the old board.

There are no dip switches or other obvious configurable items. There is a jumper wire that says "Cut if CS used", but it is not cut on the original board.

Thanks
