Can't install SS Liner through chimney offset

I am trying to install a SS flex liner but getting stuck at a bend in my chimney. I have a rope attached to it but there is little room to pull from the basement as this is for my oil furnace and the furnace itself is in the way. There is only a 6" hole through the chimney and then it goes up at 90 degrees so not really any chance to pull down. I tried pushing and turning but no luck, it goes about 20' down the flue then nothing. It is a 6" round liner and I'm trying to go down an 8x8 flue. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks!

Can't install SS Liner through chimney offset

How much of an offset is there? do you think it is getting stuck against the mortar that holds the sections of tile liner together or is it not making the offset because it can't make the corner? If it's mortar issues then sometimes a brick on a rope will break out the clump of mortar.

Can you sip screw a 6" cap on the end with a handle in the middle to tie the rope on so as to not have the rope catching on the sides of the old chimney. Can your existing heater operate with a 5" flue ? If so change the size.
