Can a furnace sit on top of the evaporator coil?

Hi, just bought my first home (cute little ranch) built on a slab, so there is no basement or crawl space. we have a utility closet off of the kitchen that houses the water heater, furnace and evaporator coil. (I know, if it's not broke don't fix it, but just want peace of mind to know that is is set up the way it should be) I see a lot of info on line about the coil sitting on top of the furnace but our furnace sits on top of the evaporator coil. All is seems to be working fine, but then again, I have never had a place with central air so I have a lot to learn. Any in put is greatly appreciated.
Sincerely, Yvonne

Not a problem. It takes air in the top and flows it down past the burner and A coil, into the duct work.

Yep, its normal if your duct system is in your slab.

Are your registers on the floor, or in the ceiling.

The one thing that can hurt a htg. and a/c system is a dirty filter.Make sure you know where your filter is and how to change it and change it every few months.

Can a furnace sit on top of the evaporator coil?

Hi,
The registers are on the wall about 8 inches from the floor. A friend came over last night and showed me where the filter is located and how to change it. Turns out they had a "cheapie" filer in it so had to get a good proper filter.

Probably comes up through the slab into the wall. Don't get "too" good of an air filter. as most duct systems weren't designed to use them.
