Can closing too many vents cause problems??

Newbie here hoping to mine some info. Can closing to many heating vents (to save $ basicly) cause a furnace to lockout due to things like back pressure, overheating, excess condensate or whatever? I had closed 4 of 10 vents and, after several cold weeks, the furnace quit working after a few cycles or sometimes altogether. (In my case, this is a 19 yr old high efficiency furnace) I reopened all vents and room doors and the furnace seems to work again as it should. Just coincidence??? Thanks, Michael

Closing too many vents can cause the furnace to over heat.

Also. Check your air filter, may be time to replace it already.

By closing too many vents you are placing the furnace in an out of balance condition. It will overheat.

If you want to close vent. Just put fan motor on high speed ( red is for heat and its on low speed) Note if you do put it on high speed it may run longer.
