A/C won't turn on

We just purchased a new home and haven't fully moved in yet, but we were doing some work in the house this weekend and tried to run the A/C but it wouldn't turn on. Neither the main unit outside or the blower fan in the furnace would kick on. It worked at inspection and the former owners had it running after that while they were cleaning the house up.

I recycled every breaker in the panel (in case the former owner told me the wrong one for the A/C), replaced the fuses in the disconnect box, all wiring in the service panel looks OK, furnace emergency switch is on, tried the fan switch on AUTO and ON.

The former owners had power turned off the day we closed and we waited a week to reconnect it since we knew we wouldn't be there right away. Would the reconnect have caused a problem? The main breaker for the house was off when it was reconnected and I turned it back on after the power company came out.

Gas is also disconnected at the moment for the same reason. Does the furnace need gas for the A/C to run? Or is it time to call a pro?

A/C won't turn on

Make sure blower door panel is on correctly. it has a safety switch in it that could be causing your problem.
