hvac1000, not to derail this thread, but I have come across an issue with my G61mpv, that the combustion fan unit bearings are now going bad. You get the wobbling noise on it, when it starts up. You would think that it would not happen on a unit, that is only eight years old. A couple squirts of motor bearing oil has quieted it down, but it is of course on borrowed time at this point.

Good thing is, at least that Fasco motor I can get for around $270 online. Bad thing is, short of bucks at this time to replace it, so I have to wait at least until Nov. to do it. I thought that the motors would last a lot longer on these things, but of course majority of the parts are plastic, and most are not QA'd like they used to back thirty, fourty years ago.

If its only eight years old and was registered after install it may still be under manufacturer warranty. Id at least try and call up the furnace manufacturer. It will save you the motor cost.
Also yes sometimes you can just be unlucky and get a bad part. In fact I was on a unit today that was quite the opposite. The furnace was 27 years old and only had been service once in its life. Just a lucky one I guess

to save you the hassle read the fine print in the warranty card and it may be in the owners manual. some had a 5 yr and a few had 10 yr warranties. huge hassle if you call Lennox as they have to go thru the serial# and series of production etc to find out.

there are still 30+ yr old Lennox Pulse units running today and the odd one has the original circuit board.

I may do that. I am supposed to have a local company come in on this next Monday, to do a Seasonal inspection of the Heat Exchanger. Last time we had this company come in, the employee that came was not quite all there in the head.

I know, some state that about me at times on here, but I really mean that this guy was not all there. Even my wife was scared of having him in the house, when we had them quote us for doing some duct work, while we had the Bath under remodel. I am crossing my fingers that it is not this same guy on Monday, or I am having words with the company, which is the same one that installed the unit back in 2005, regarding dissatisfaction with this employee and their personality issues.

one critical point with that particular furnace is where the tubing on the pressure switches on the left side of the furnace attaches to the plastic collector box once a yr you must take them off and poke a nail or small drill bit thru that port of it can plug up. happens to other furnaces but that one fairly often. Lennox redesigned those ports but if you got the original one they can plug up and that is normal maintenance anyway. have had no problems with the heat exchanger on the hordes of them I sold.

10 years on that Signature Series. Hopefully the labor will not kill me. Every time I have had this company come in to do the inspection, I just want the basic, make sure the Heat Exchanger is not cracked, everything is still in good working order, since I do the cleaning of the squirrel cage, etc., and they want to always upsell on everything. That along with they happen to be one of two only licensed Lennox companies in town, so they tend to be on the high side of costs.

I think that this is the first year that I have noticed the combustion fan making the wobble noise from the bearing, which I found out back when I started the whole pre-season check on it, back in mid September.

I have to get my son out there this Friday if it does not rain, and clean off the a/c coils and scoop out any muck inside, along with the next door neighbor's unit. Last time we did her unit, to clean out all of the debris, I swear that it was about a foot deep in her unit.

I figured keep this thread alive, since it seemed to have died, after the OP bounced after the five posts on the 19th. Do not know if they got scared away due to all of the talk about the problems, or busy, but really need to know if they ever got the board fixed.
