A/C behavior during power hits

We had that wonderful east coast monster line of storms blow through our area Friday night. We're very fortunate to have power and no damage.

Our Amana A/C unit is one year old. We had several quick power hits during the storm front, during which the air conditioner was running. I noticed that, even though the blower and the outside unit fan were both running, there was no cool air coming out of our ducts. However, about 20-30 minutes later, the system started cooling again, and has worked fine ever since.

Is there some sort of compressor safety circuit that shuts it off if there are power hits like that? Just curious....

if the compressor had short cycled it may have not started and tripped the internal overload. After it reset it may be fine now.

I ended up placing a timer controller on the lv side of my A/c unit outside, and set for about 30-45 sec's, so if it is a immediate trip, the unit will not start up right away.
