Byrant A/C Compressor fan spinning slow

Hello All,

I came home today to find my house had not cooled down at all. When I went out to look at the compressor I found that the fan was spinning at about half speed. I turned the system on and off and even replaced the time delayed fuses thinking that one or two of them had gone bad - this had happened about six years ago.

Does this problem sound like a capacitor? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Rob

This may sound like a silly question, but... Does the fan continue to run at half speed when the unit is turned off at the thermostat? If it does, your compressor is likely shorted out. If it doesn't, then hopefully it is just the capacitor.
