what am i missing?

you're mad at me for telling the truth??..because it's not "my house".

should i be lying? do these people not want the truth? should i say 3 tons for 1500 sq' sounds fine when you and me both know it's gonna be waaaay too big...and the house will probably be muggy? should i tell them the a/c should have longer run times so it pulls out the latent heat??..or is that a secret too.

if you ask me i am one of the few people in this thread that is actually on the OP's side.....telling it like it is. sorry to anyone if the truth hurts.

i am not $hitting in anyones house...if i was full of $hit i'd agree with the 3 tonner.

the sizing tool is deceptive and inaccurate...and no it does not show 2.5 tons..it says 3 tons for Memphis.
i am aware this is a DIY site..thanks. if you actually read what i posted i never once said it should not be done DIY. so my "tired opinion" is really more about people not getting the proper information from people that are more concerned about moving boxes than making sure the job is done properly.

to the OP do your research on your warranty as well. many manufacturers do not warranty any internet sales...regardless of what the internet suppliers tell you.

from Goodman's warranty... "Neither warranty applies to, and no warranty is offered by Goodman on, any unit ordered over the Internet."

http://www.goodmanmfg.com/Portals/0/pdf/PWCACHPCC.pdf

trying to make sure all of the information is on the table for these people.

see you on the other site hvaclover.
Right, you can read that, but then you might read this:

http://www.acwholesalers.com/coverageinfo.pdf

Then if you call them and ask them to clarify they say:

If you get the pro to Braze, charge, and setup the system, then the warranty is valid, if not through the mfg, then through them.

At the end of the day I'm saving about 1500 bucks doing it myself, if my compressor goes out from poor workmanship, I don't really care if I get a successful warranty claim because I'm having fun doing it, and bad things happen. Now if the whole unit is dead, leaky and shorted out, then I've got a problem..

It's much like when I rented a mini-excavator. It cost me 300 bucks, and I feel like a good chuck of that was an entertainment expense.
