Bsmnt reno question...

We're renovating our basement....and are closing in the furnace we're putting in a door but w/limited space.

In the future we wld like to install Central Air which now for budget reasons can't. My question is...

Do I need to leave anything open or extra space for when we install the central Air?
and if so,
Where do they do the hook ups? is it done close to the furnace?

For the time being, one thing to consider if you are enclosing your furnace is combustion air. If your furnace uses inside air for combustion, you will need to make sure that an adequate amount of air finds its way to your furnace, you may need to install a louvered door or something..

We have central air installed... does not find too many storage required. the unit seat mainly outside the house with some ducts comeing here or there from the furnance... so I don't think you need much space for central air except for the installer to move around to cut hole(s) here or there... or connecting some wiring..etc. I think if you have enough room for the furnance to be serviced, you should have enough room for the central air... normally central air connection going through a outside wall drilled hole.... so make sure you have such spot also....

Thank you for your quick responses....I think we're safe....there is enough space for the furnace to be serviced... so there is a door for air to get in.
