Bryant plus 80 ignition probs "help"

Hi,
I have a 2005 Bryant plus 80 furnace, the ignitor will not glow....it is a brand new ignitor! you can cycle it and hear the click which in turn makes the ignitor glow...but it dont glow, tries 3 times then locks out. every once in awhile it will glow, but not for long and not long enough to light burners. any ideas??

disconnect the ignitor and check for 120 volts to the ignitor and how long the 120 volts is present.

you can not touch the ignitor with your fingers, it can retard the surface and crack it prematurely. Many times a hairline fracture on the ignitor (which you can not see with the naked eye) gets bigger while the ignitor gets hotter. As the crack become bigger electrical continuity through the ignitor is disrupted thus causing premature ignition or no ignitor at all.

If you don't have an electrical meter than simply buy a new ignitor. If the same thing happens with the new ignitor then buy yourself an electrical meter. :)

Are you getting any error codes? Maybe the pressure switch is not staying closed. I would check the hose between the inducer fan and the pressure switch. Make sure the entire length of the hose and both ends are free of crud. Also check the port on the inducer fan where that hose attaches to make sure it is clean. You can use a paper clip to clean out the hose ends and the port. The port needs to be clear from the opening to the fan blades.

Sounds like bad board, or make sure the pins in the molex plug at the ignitor, didn't push out and are causing a bad connection.I've came across this by accident cause didnt have very good lighting and could see arcing in the connector.
