Bryant Evolution Control Loose Piece

When removing my Evolution Control from the wall for painting I found a small black plastic piece in the plastic mount backplate. I can't see where it would attach to the controller. Does anybody with experience with this thermostat recognize this piece and where it may go?

looks to me like the plastic housing that goes over the connection terminals on the back of the stat. I havent used that kind of Bryant stat before, but thats what it looks like to me.
