Bryant 395Cav fires up, but does not blow heat!! We're freezing in Michigan, help!

My Bryant 395cav will fire up but won't blow heat threw the vents. There's a buzzing sound and then nothing. What should we do? I have no money to call anyone to repair it.

Put your hand on the motor. Is it blazing hot? Try turn it to ON at tstat if you have AC.

Sounds by your description that the blower motor has failed and needs to be replaced.

Have you smelled burned wire insulation lately?

I think what Yuri is trying to say is turn the fan on manually at the tstat, and then feel the motor. I would first turn the switch off on the side of the furnace then turn the tstat to fan on manually, then go back and turn the switch on, on the side of the furnace.

When you remove the door over the fan compartment there is a limit switch that will have to be depressed in order for the fan to attempt running.

We have smelled the smell of a furnace just turned on for the first time of the season. And what is a tstat?

Your motor on the main circulation fan is likely toasted, are you confident enough to replace it?

Depending on your unit size the motor will be 1/5 to 3/4 hp.
