Bryant 394GAZ (Gas) Intermittant Heat

The three wire pilot assembly is the likely problem. Usually they spark and light the pilot fine but the little metal plate doesn't always make contact. The ignition module then locks out and will not attempt a restart untill you reset the power. It will fail all together eventually instead of giving intermittent problems and you'll know for sure what it is then.

Do as Marty said & replace the 3 wire pilot. Don't waste your $ on a new gv. & have the same problem. You can test by jumping the 2 wires on the pilot that make up the circuit to the G. V.. Make sure the pilot is lit when you do this or you will get raw gas in the H X when the G.V. opens. If you have no experence doing this .. DON'T DO IT

Just a status update:
Everything looks good.
I replaced the ceramic Spark Ignitor element on the 3 wire pilot assembly and retaped some of the bare wires on the 3 wire pilot assembly.

I am still planning on replacing the 3 wire pilot assembly but I figured I do one at a time just so I could share some information. I was told this pilot assmebly is a standard maintenance item by a local technician.

I guess all I can do is sit back and see if everything works for the next couple weeks. I'll repost later.

Thanks for everyone's help!

rgwekert, I am having exactly the same problem with the same furnace. If you are still around, can you share what your final resolution was? I'd like to nurse this furnace through another season or two before replacing.

I ended up replacing the furnace. I did replace the igniter (3-wire) I believe and it work intermittently for a while (if I remember correctly). I guess you could try that since it is a standard maintenance item.
Sorry I don't have anymore information for you.

LOL. Thanks. I'm hoping to coax it through this winter and then replace. I don't want to get stuck wasting a lot of $ on part swaps for an older furnace.
