Bryant 394GAW036100 pilot lights but burners won't/pilot wavers and cuts out also

My 20 year old Bryant furnace is starting to burp. I have been tinkering it along for some time but am stuck on this one. Calls for heat, some smaller fan comes on, the pilot light comes on but won't ignite the burners and runs and runs with the pilot light on and I can smell the gas outside. There is no thermocuple that I can see and I have started drinking beer and hoarding blankets as I have no $ for a real repairman. Any suggestions.
