Brand new noisy metal duct

I need to know if there's a way before they sheetrock to somehow prevent the creaking and cracking of the duct every time the furnace turns off. I think it's from the heating and cooling of the metal and it's shrinking and that's making it "pop". I know it might sound like something small but since the ceiling is wide open, hey, why not?

Did you cross-brake the metal? What guage metal did you use? What size is the trunk?

As above, is it cross braked.
Also, is the supply too tight to the joist.
Is it sized right. Undersized sheet metal pops if undersized too much.

I didn't install it. An HVAC shop did and it's getting inspected so I'm hoping everything is sized right. As far as the installation goes, the duct is smooth (as in there is no x's scratched into it) but it seems too thick of steel to do that in. It's hung off little L brackets and the sections are folded together. Where it transitions to round 6" duct, those are supported with bars that are wedged between the floor joists. It's not installed tight to the floor joists as in there is a an inch or so gap on the top. It only makes sounds when it's cooling down versus heating up, I believe.
