Both HVAC units @ duplex went out today

I have a duplex and had both of my tennants call me to say that the air conditioners are not blowing cold. They are completely separate. They are both split systems on seperate meters/panels.

Both of the condensers? are on in the outside. The copper pipe that should be cold was not. I had a roofer installing a roof today and thats the only thing outside of normal.

I have my guy going out tomorrow, but I wondered if this had ever happened to anybody before. I checked the panel and no breakers were tripped. I even went back and double checked w/ volt meter just to make sure all breakers are hot.

roofers probably put nails through the lineset.

Thats what I was thinking. If the nails are 1 1/4, maybe the lineset was installed too close to the roof? Any requirement for conduit?

NO requirement for conduit. If the roofers did hit the lines with a nail they would have known as it would have most likely started hissing.

Nails flinging off fan blades can get ugly too. Maybe they shut the disconnects off to avoid that and forgot to turn them back on.

Does this lineset installation look correct? You can see where it touches deck?

Thanks for all the help.

Yup, there's a nail through those linesets. I've repaired a few of those. Call your roofer and tell him to be there. those shingles and the wood underneath will have to be cut and lifted, the holes in the lineset brazed close with sodder (yes, it will hold but make sure it's sanded good with sand paper/emory cloth before hand) and then the roof re-repaired.

I think your drain line is cracked as well, the one on the right.
