Boiler Question
I have a

Sears Roebuck Model# 229-962171 SER. NO. 1D711

It's pretty old prob about 20+ years.

Quick question.

Can the heat exchange on it be replaced? I had a guy quote me $5000 for a new system because the heat exchange is clogged.

Yes, probably not cost effective though.

It can be done though?

My wife just called and said a second guy says I can't be..I just want to know if it can be.

I can understand cost efficient...but just tell me that ya know.

Considering that the Heat Exchanger part of a 20 year old Boiler makes up about 95% of the Boiler....

No,... You Can't.... The Heat Exchanger IS the Boiler...

Usually they can be cleaned. Messy and expensive. The serial # may indicate 1971 so it may be an old beast. Probably very inefficient. A newer high efficiency one will pay for itself quickly.

Should be able to clean a boiler.

Its an annual thing on oil boilers. And oil furnaces

You must have a hot air furnace. as long as your duct work is in good condition just get the new furnace but 5000 seems a little high get a second opinion
