Boiler knocking

I have a boiler heating system with a gas furnace. It had galvanize pipe but the leaked real bad. Was told that I could replace the leaking pipes with copper, so I did. But now it knocks really loud. Really loud. How do I stop the pipes from knocking??

Is your pump switched on? Or is boiler just making popping sounds ? Bleed air possibly from piping

Check your gauges for what your operating pressure and temp when the boiler is running and thumping..

The noice can be from anything that restricts the water flow (a gate valve still turned off, air block, pump not working) or from a blown exp tank.
Is the noice coming from the boiler or the runs.

PSI was at zero. But now have another problem. A pipe busted and when it was removed it was clogged with black corrosion.

You sound way over your head there.
A PSI of 0 with the boiler firing can really do some major damage.
It sounds like you need a plumber to replace the leaking pipes, refill the system, bleed the excess air, get the PSI up to 12 PSI so that he can test your system to see if any other pipes are clogged.

I am mot a plumber, but a boiler which is behaving as yours maybe dry firing. Blocked pipes indicated years of neglect. If a boiler is allowed to leak over the years, the oxygen in the make up water will cause corrosion. I agree with others you need a professional to look at it. You need more than pipe replacement. Some pictures might help others asses the situation.
