Blower Motor Replacement Question

Hello,
I have an older Trane XL90 system that I believe the squirrel cage motor has gon out on. The motor will run for 10 minutes or so then just stop spinning and buzz. Funny thing is that if I remove it from the air handler it will run fine but if it comes in contact with it, it will stop running and just buzz. Also it give a little shock if you touch it while running outside the air handler. So am I safe to assume it is a bad motor or is it just the capacitor? Also what was the original motor for this unit? The one I have in it now is GE# 5KCP39KG - N691S in bold, specs: 1/2HP - 115V - 60HZ - 9.3 AMPS - 1375 RPM. The Grainger rep I called said that he didnt have a generic replacement for this motor and said he thought the motor for this unit was a 1/2HP 1075 RPM with 9.0 amps? Any help appreciated my wife and three year old daughter are growing inpatient and hot lol!

Blower Motor Replacement Question

it is a 1/2 hp motor but most of the Trane units I see don't take a generic motor due to the mounting bracket Trane uses. Try americanhvacparts.com. or a local Trane dealer. it may be the capacitor but you a need a tester for it or just try a new one. 95%-98% of the time it is the motor. If it is a higher speed 1375 motor then you must get it from Trane for the extra airflow.

Blower Motor Replacement Question

Can I replace the 1375rpm motor with a 1075? I have one that is 9.0 amp 1/2hp and 1075 rpm. Would this require a different capacitor? Also any idea what is causing it to work outside the furnace but "ground out" and stop working (only bzzing) when it comes in contact with the furnace? Thanks in advance!

Inside the furnace it has 2 work harder against the resistance of the ductwork, outside it can freewheel, if it is shocking U then it is dangerous 2 you and your familyThanks in advance!
