Blower motor noise

Hey guys nice forum you have here..

Im having a small problem I hope you can help me with. I had about a year and a half ago installed a rheem 4 ton a/c unit model RHLLHM4821JA with x13 motor. Now for the first 9 months everything was perfect. But as time went on the blower motor got more and more noisy. I replace filters about every 1.5 month. Now if I pulled the filter out it will completely quite itself down.

As of late though the blower noise is horrendously loud, I don’t want to run it without a filter as im scared of clogging up the coil, even with the cover open the motor makes noise, is like a vibrating noise but the motor spins freely with no play and theres nothing loose or toucing. I changed the wiring of the motor from tap 4 what it was wired from the factory to tap 2 which is low for a 3.5 ton unit and it has quieted it down 85%. But im worried this might cause a problem with air flow acrros the coil, the return is pretty open, the door pictured below and two 24 x 16 vents on both sides of the wall.

Other relavant info , my house is 1600 sq ft, I live in Miami, florida.

heres a picture of the setup and return, filter is on the bottom, door open or closed makes no difference.

My first question is what size a/c did you take out?

As far as a 4 tn on a 1600 sq ft house, well are you hanging meat

Have you been oiling the blower motor? Many need a few drops each season on the bearings. Often little capped tubes travel to motor bearings.

Sounds like your supply duct may be a bit undersized.

Not sure on their air handlers. But some Rheem furnaces have a shipping bracket that needs to be removed. Check if your air handler has a shipping bracket that should have been removed.
