Blower Motor Died


What to do? My blower motor died in my furnace should i buy a new 80% efficiency for $2200 or spend $600 to get the a new blower motor installed?

how old is your furnace? and I wouldn't buy an 80% eff. unless you cant get new flues out or your furnace is in the attic.

How old is the furnace? That's too much to spend on a 15-20 year old furnace but if it's less then that then repair is a better option. Might try to replace the motor yourself.

I paid the $600 to get the new blower installed. My furnace is the original one with the townhouse which is built in 1989= 22 years old.

Yep, putting that 600 toward a new furnace would have been a better investment.

I don't see why replacing a conventional furnace motor would cost more than $200.00 plus labour. Do you have a 2 sp motor or do you live a long way away from your HVAC repairman?
