blower fan delay

I have an old Janitrol furnace model GU075-3. Is it normal for there to be a 15 second delay before the fan turns on after the burners shut off?

15 seconds is kind of short, but yes for most furnaces it is normal. Mine runs the fan aprx 45 seconds to 1 min. after the heat stops, so that the fan will pull any residual heat off of the exchanger. Reason for the fan starting before, is with especially a/c, you want air flowing before the outside compressor starts up, so that the A-Coil does not freeze, let alone when heating, having the heat exchanger crack due to no air passing over it.

Maybe something bad, maybe something good. I guess we'll never know, 'cause you're going to guard it. You won't touch it, will you?

The fan doesn't run while the burners are on. The burners run for about 1 minute & the fan starts about 15 seconds after the burners shut off. The fan runs for about 1 minute. After several minutes the process repeats.

Sounds like you have a problem in the thermal limit systems.

Maybe fans coming on too late so heat exchanger feels it is overheating.

Or heat exchanger over heat system tripping too soon and then the safety setting on the fans kicking on as the notice how hot the heat exchanger has gotten.
