Looking at a new furnace that is 7" shorter than my old one and I don't think there is enough play in the refrig lines to drop down to where the evap coil connections will be. I haven't worked a lot with soft copper but I am guessing the best way would be to get a 1 foot section of both the 3/8" and 3/4" copper and expand/swage the ends so they will fit over the cut tubes then braze them up. But I don't have a tool to do the expanding. So... is there a DIY way to expand the tube ends w/o the special tool? Or are there braze couplings made specifically for O.D. refrigerant tubing that would work equally well? I see that the tubing is available by the foot from many suppliers. Perhaps some of those could expand the ends before they ship them. I guess I can call them and see.
