Best roof cap for range hood vent

I'm putting in a 6" vent for my over-range microwave, and I'm trying to figure out the best roof cap to use. My local HVAC supply recommended running the vent pipe through the roof and using a roof jack and cap similar to the first picture. I like the look of the low profile roof caps, similar to the Broan model in the second picture. Are the low profile caps suitable for range hood exhaust, or is it designed just for bathroom vent exhaust? The Broan instructions don't really specify. Are there any better options out there?
