Best place to install handler

I have a two story home approx 1200 sq ft upstairs and 1000 downstairs. I had CAC installed upstairs 2 years ago. The handler is in the attic and duct work was run to upstairs room. I now want to install it in downstairs (first level). I have an unfinished basement. Should the handler be in the basement and ductwork run upstairs from there or from attic down and loose closet space. Dont like vents on floor because of furniture placement but open to whatever works best. I am worried about cutting through the floors. Thank you for any thoughts
