Which is best Lennox brand?

OK, so I think I will go with one of the following "Lennox" models/quotes, noting that I won't be choosing an R22 coil!

Any recommendations on Merit vs Aire-flow vs Concord?

1. 80%, 70K, $3,250, Lennox, MERIT ML180UH070P36A, Coil: CX-34-31 R22

2. 80% ?K, $3,700, Lennox, AIRE-FLO 80AF1D070P12A, Coil: AC24AE1A COUNTERFLOW EVAPORATOR COIL

3. 80%, 70K, $3,100, Lennox, Concord, Coil: R410 ready

Why not go with a unit that has a higher effeciency? If your going to spend that money....toss in a few more bucks and save it in the long run.....especially if your in a cold climate.

Also check with your local gas company....good chance they offer rebates for higher effeciency units....in most cases the rebate will be enough to cover the difference.

AireFlo and the Lennox unit are now identical. Not sure who makes it for who but they are the same just a different color. You pay more for the Lennox name. I would be more concerned that the contractor is reputable with a good history and reference than price.

What about the 80G1DF070AP12 Concord model? Is that comparable to these 2?

we don't have them where I am. Concord is more in the US but I suspect Lennox is making them for all 3 companies and it is the same unit. more cost effective to use the same parts, manufacturing dies etc etc. Probably using some of AireFlo's factories but the standard of construction is Lennox quality.

There is also the Armstrong Air division of Lennox. If you can afford it, go with what you can afford, and what it is worth for the home value. http://www.armstrongair.com/ I have a Armstrong a/c unit and love it. Nice and quiet.

Maybe something bad, maybe something good. I guess we'll never know, 'cause you're going to guard it. You won't touch it, will you?

I looked at the Armstrong site and a product brochure with inside pics and it looks a LOT like the Lennox. Probably Lennox is building one furnace in their plants plus Armstrong/AireFlo/Concord/Ducane's plants as they own all 4 brands and stamping different names on them like ICP does. Good business plan to use all the same parts and keep inventory costs down etc etc. Only specific unit of Armstrong they will keep is the package condo units.
