best brazing tip for oxy-acetylene?

I'm using a #5 Harris tip on my oxy-acet to brazing on the liquid and vacuum line on a 2.5 ton goodman condenser.

Would a #3 be a better choice?

A #2 came with my torches and that's all I've used for 15 years now. Lots of guys like a #3 tip.

Best tip don't burn down the house. For real smaller tip and if don't weld this stuff every day spend some money get extra copper and practice first. Another thing control the heat by moving in and out on the joint. The 3/8 liquid line will go fast be ready.

yep use 5 % .... it flows like crap though.... I never use it......

If you practice like crap you will weld like crap. Just spend the money it will be cheap in the long run

I don't use anything other than 5%, flows and seals just fine for me. On 2" and 3" lines I simply use a rose bud tip.

A new guy with a rose bud can I watch I need a good laugh. A much smaller 3/8 line will go fast. Try a 0 first you can do it but of if you haven't soldered before go slow with a big tip remember to raise the temp of the work move the tip in to lower the temp pull back. Use 15% as a new guy it will work better old guys van get away with it and a big tube van handle a lot of heat.

You can watch all you'd like as I braze circles around you and your entire company, regardless of tip or sodder.

Not you doc slash I know what your talking about I've done built UP systems also. But I've trained enough new guys to a rose bud can make a new guy a lot of trouble. So doc pound your chest with someone else. Slash do what you want doc and are seem to be old guys at this. If your new take the extra time.

My philosophy is when doing stuff myself buy the best I can because I don't know what I'm doing and it will make my life much easier...having the right tool for the job is a beautiful thing. You're already saving money.
