Beckett HeatManager

Anyone ever used a Beckett HeatManager with a Weil-McClain WGO boiler? Thoughts?

Get an outdoor reset control. The heat manager isn't nearly as good as an outdoor reset.

In a traditional forced hot water system, when the thermostat calls for heat then the burner and the circulator come on. When the thermostat stops calling, the burner and circulator go off.

With the Beckett Heatmanager, if the boiler is already quite warm and the thermostat calls for heat, just the circulator and not the burner comes on. The burner cycles on and off as needed to keep the boiler water warm enough.

Many modern boilers already have the burner cycling on and off while the circulator runs continuously (until the thermostat stops calling) so the Beckett unit does not add anything new.

A completely different economizer has an outside sensor that shuts off the furnace or circulator if the outdoor temperature goes above a certain level. This is a do it yourself-able project.

Outdoor reset works much better then the heat manager.

The heat manager doesn't really do anything when the outdoor temps are 20 or less()Beckett admits it). But an outdoor reset still saves money on the heating bill.
