Question

Basement Cooling advice

I need to cool/heat/dhumidify a 500 sq ft room in the basement.
This is an interior room so there are no windows. My Central system is in the attic so it's two levels up, therfore no ductwork exist in the basement.
I have considered a portable unit and cutting a small hole in the siding to vent it. I have also read about the mini split systems but they seem pretty expensive. Currently the entire basement is being dehumidified by
two of the units that you roll around and have to emty the buckets on.
The unfinished area is probably around 1000 sq ft.

Any suggestions?

thanks

Frank

For cooling & dehumidifying how about one of those rollaround windowless air conditioners that exhaust / intake through flexible hoses? You could run them out through the unfinished space to a window. I don't know if those units have a heat option.

Before going to all this trouble and expense, seal and insulate your house. Especially your attic and basement. It keeps out heat, cold, and moisture. Doing your attic helps your basement because it reduces the stack effect, where warmer air rises and goes out the top off of your house, sucking in cooler outside air into the bottom of your house.

Any idea which portable units are better?
Which models have the dual hose system?
I read thet were more efficient but haven't
seen a specific model.

thanks
