Baseboard heat doesn't work upstairs

Did they have an explanation for why it's taken this long to dispatch a mechanic to sort out your system?

I didn't ask. When I called for an appointment, it was for a regular annual service. I guess because I have no heat in almost half of the house, it's considered urgent and have someone coming out to look at it right away. They'll still come out in March for the service call and do whatever they do every year.

That's the most effusive marketing I've ever seen for a simple baseboard unit. :-O

MAMASKY ..IS.. doing the right thing...once his service provider got the "no heat" message they responded immediately..I say give them a chance. After all, the previous owner seemed to be satisfiede with them. Hopefully it's an easy fix.

If they have to bleed the baseboard/convector on the second floor. Ask them to check to make sure the expansion tank isn't water logged.

cause if it is. With in a relatively short time, the system pressure will build up and the pressure relief valve will do its job, and open up and release water in the basement.

When they get there ask them to run you thru the system and how it works and what does what. Have note pad handy and write down the readings you are supposed to have/see on the gages, etc. Ask them to explain to you what lines feed oil to the unit, where filters are etc. Have them show you the water inlet/pressure reduction valving and how to work it. Have him give you a basic understanding of how the water circulates thru the system and where the circulator pump is. All of this understanding will help you imensly in the future should you ever have another problem.

Any good company should be more than willing to do this for you.

After looking at the pictures you posted I am going to suspect either you have an airlock in the line upstairs or there is a valve closed.

Guy just left, there was air in both of the feeds to the upstairs. He showed me which lines ran where, how to fix it if it happens again, and everything seems to be working great now.

Good for the service guy for helping you to understand your system.

You call that basement cluttered??? I've been in some where it takes longer to FIND the boiler than to service it.

umm, the other side isn't in the picture. lol I had to clean out that side so that I could get to the washer and dryer while carrying overflowing laundry baskets.
And yeah, I'm glad the guy came out quickly and didn't have any problem answering my questions or showing me how things work.

Clutter is when you have to move stuff just to see the basement. LOL
