Attic gable fan install

I'm going to put a fan in the little gable window in my attic. Do I need to block off the gable window at the other end of the attic?

Attic gable fan install

I'm no pro but I'm pretty sure a pro would tell you quite the opposite -- that if you're going to vent, you also need an air intake of equal area in order to keep fresh air flowing into the attic, replacing what you're venting. (Though maybe if you have some *other* intake source, like soffit vents, it would be OK...)
