asbestos insulation please help!

Hello, I live in a house built in 1930. The house that I live in has Grey paper like thin insulation on the HVAC ducts running under my house up through the floor. I also have cloth wrap around all my electrical wiring. I am very concerned about this. When I moved into the house I knew nothing about asbestos and exposure to asbestos. I found that cats had gotten under the crawl space and clawed at some of the asbestos. I am concerned that me and my family is at risk. I replaced some of the electrical not knowing of the presence of asbestos and have been under my house to make repairs to the ducts all without a mask. I am really terrified for my health. I am 24 yrs old, and don't smoke. Really I am just looking for some info to help me calm down. Everywhere I look online gives you no info, just laywers trying to make money. I am pretty sure it is chysotile asbestos, and I don't know the percentage.

From your short exposure time/times. You only have 80 or 90 years left before you Might develop cancer.

It takes repeated and prolonged exposure to do any real harm.

I'm from the old days when we use to mix it by hand to seal chimneys.

The workers that installed it, or were on the assembly lines for brakes and clutches. Are the ones that were put at risk from 8 hours a day 5 days a week of breathing the fibers.

First off, there is no possible way you can know if the stuff you have is chrysotile asbestos unless you get it analyzed, or you have X-ray vision. There are hundreds of types of asbestos, some of them so close to each other that it takes a trained chemist to distinguish them.

Since you are so concerned, I recommend you collect a sample (see the EPA website on asbestos for recommendations on how to safely collect a sample), take it to a lab which specializes in asbestos identification, and find out what you have. If you have asbestos, you can then make a determination as to whether you want to leave it as is, encapsulate it, or remove it, and you can decide if you want a professional to handle the project, or you want to go the DIY route.

The suggested fix for asbestos in a home is, if it ain't broke don't fix it, by disturbing the asbestos creates more of a problem, just leave it be. See attached for some more info.
