Aprilaire humidifier stopped working

I have a 5 year old Aprilaire 700 and just noticed recently that it does not run. I finished replacing the water panel and did all the general maintenance associated with it and that's when I noticed that it does not kick in with the furnace no matter where the dial is set. It was working last winter.

If I turn the dial to "test/reset" it starts to run and the "change water panel" light flashes. According to the manual, when you do this the water panel timer is supposed to reset itself if you leave it in test mode until the light stops blinking. Problem is, the light never stops blinking and as soon as you take it out of test mode, it stops running.

This is the controller I have. As you can see, it has a manual mode jumper connected to 2 of the terminals.




Does this just sound like a faulty controller or can you offer any other suggestions?

Is this that uncommon a problem that nobody has an idea what's wrong?

I'm inclined to buy a new controller for it but if that's not the problem, then I've bought something for nothing and I still have to call in a professional

That is a popular brand but not one I sell. Perhaps they have a website and 1-800 tech support number.
