Aprilaire Humidifier

I have a whole house Aprilaire humidifier. The water line to the unit comes from a saddle valve attatched to my hot water heater. The copper line from the water heater runs to the humidifier. Is it suppose to be hot water for this application? I have been in the house a year and just now noticed this. My previous house was cold water. What's up with that?

Aprilaire Humidifier

It's probably coming from the cold water inlet to your hot water heater. Not the hot water outlet.

Ihave a aprilaire humidifier that i purchased and had installed. Not sure which model you have. mine has its own fan and runs whenever humidistat calls to increase humidity. The water source on mine IS connected to hotwater pipe,as per install instructions. which does use more energy.
