Aprilaire 700 Wiring Help

The power to the r and c on the stat just powers the stat to make the stat itself work 24/7 but the humidifier proper should NOT run unless there is both a call for humidity AND there is a call for heat. Do you have the W wire connected as shown? That is what should trigger the humidifier to actually turn on... at least that is how mine works.

Aprilaire 700 Wiring Help

Now I'm questioning myself, so I will double check it again, but I swear that my set up matches Figure K exactly. Thank you, and I'll check when I get home.

Either wired wrong, or a defective control.

Seems that manual mode is much less complicated than automatic mode. And more likely to work in the manner you prefer (on only when call for heat).

And that the unit has a few quirks.

Blower activation feature should probably be OFF.

Automatic means the control reduces the humidity level as it gets colder outside. manual means you must adjust it down as it gets colder outside, or end up having condensation on your windows.

Aprilaire 700 Wiring Help

I have had mine running in both manual in earlier years and auto more recently and IIRC the install is pretty much the same with either manual or auto in regards to how the unit gets the signal to start and stop. Manual just doesn't need the outdoor temp sensor connected and like BT says then does not vary set RH with ODT to potentially avoid condensation. And of course the selector switch in the control needs to be changed to go from one to the other (used to be a jumper I think with the old unpowered controls).
