anti siphon air vent

why do I need a anti siphon air vent in a horizontal air handler condensation line when it is going into a condensate pump

Antisiphon air vents/open tee arrangement are ALWAYS a good idea. The suction of the air past the drain fitting can interfere with the drainage and it needs to be open vertically to prevent that.
